The Power of Blasting. Grit-Free Performance.
The Bristle Blaster® is a patented rotary bristle tool that removes corrosion and generates an anchor profile in a single operation, the cleanliness and texture of abrasive blasting, without loose abrasives, containment, or complex waste management.
Blasting-Equivalent Performance
Removes corrosion and profiles steel in a single pass — comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3 and SSPC-SP 10 / SP 5.
Aggressive Removal
Removes heavy corrosion, scale, and coatings — results comparable to abrasive blasting.
Coating-Ready Cleanliness
Achieves cleanliness comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3, ensuring a coating-ready substrate.
Minimal Containment
No abrasive media means minimal dust, no loose particles, and no costly containment.
Self-Cleaning Belts
Air-cooled bristle belts are self-cleaning and operate without smearing, burnishing, or heat.
Impact & Retraction
The secret to the Bristle Blaster® lies in the patented accelerator bar and the dynamic interaction of the bristle tips with the surface. Bristle tips strike the surface with kinetic energy comparable to grit-blast media, then retract instantly, simultaneously removing corrosion and generating a 65–85 µm Rz anchor profile in one cold-working pass.
The cold-working process means no thermal damage or hardening of the substrate, eliminating the risk of grit embedment and complex abrasive cleanup. Typical duties: weld seams & HAZ, spot repair, and in-service preparation on live assets.
Bristle Blaster® vs Grit Blasting
Blasting-quality results without the blasting-quality mess.
| Feature | Bristle Blasting | Grit Blasting |
|---|---|---|
| Surface Cleanliness | Comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3 | ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3 |
| Anchor Profile | 65–85 µm Rz | Variable / High |
| Loose Abrasives | None (Grit-Free) | High Volume |
| Containment Needed | Minimal to None | Mandatory / Expensive |
| Environmental Risk | Low (No dust/waste) | High (Dust/Contamination) |
| Substrate Integrity | Cold-working (Safe) | Grit embedment risk |
The Belt System
Steel belts for carbon steel, stainless for stainless and non-ferrous, never mix them. Axial belts come in left/right pairs. 23 mm for open areas, 11 mm for tight access.
Steel — BB-033 / BB-034
23 mm and 11 mm belts for carbon steel. Unit or box of 10. The workhorse for rust, mill scale and coating removal.
Stainless — BB-102 / BB-103
Dedicated stainless-steel belts for stainless and non-ferrous substrates such as aluminium — no cross-contamination.
Accelerator Bars
The patented bar that gives bristle tips their kinetic energy. Steel and stainless versions, 23 mm, 11 mm and Double.
Subsea Belts
Underwater-service belts for the Bristle Blaster® Subsea — available on request.
One Technology, Every Power Source
Pneumatic (ATEX-certified for classified zones), Electric 240V, Cordless on the CAS 18V battery platform, Axial for tight access, Double for wide areas, and hydraulic Subsea, the same patented belt technology across every drive. Browse the tools, order belts, or match belt to job with the Belt Selector.
Tercoo® — Heavy Removal First
For thick, tough coatings, Tercoo® is the essential first step. Its flexible SBR discs with tungsten-carbide pins remove paint, bitumen, epoxy, and rust up to 5 mm thick, without heat, leaving a surface ready for Bristle Blasting. One drive unit powers both steps, swapping over in 30 seconds. Full Tercoo® range and applications: Tercoo® at MontiPower global.
Yes, independent third-party laboratory tests confirm surface cleanliness comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3 with a 65–85 µm Rz anchor profile. The same test reports used to qualify blast contractors can qualify Bristle Blasting.
Steel belts (BB-033/BB-034) for carbon steel; stainless belts (BB-102/BB-103) for stainless and aluminium, never mix them. 23 mm for open areas, 11 mm for tight access. The Belt Selector gives you the exact article number.
The pneumatic models are ATEX 2014/34/EU-evaluated Category 2 equipment. Zone 1 gas and Zone 21 dust (II 2G/2D). Fully pneumatic, no electrical components. Documentation is under Reports & Certificates.
PTS 15.20.03 requires minimum Sa2 ½ per ISO 8501-1 at time of coating. Bristle Blaster tools are independently confirmed to achieve cleanliness comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3, ask us for the compliance pack for your coating system.
